Oconee Today -- Dec. 12

How will you be celebrating the once in a lifetime 12-12-12? A Google Earth class, an anime club party, Santa pictures, and a holiday play are a few of the events happening in Oconee today.

Weather: Cooler temperatures are in the National Weather Service's forecast for today.  A high of 52 degrees is expected with mostly cloudy skies. There's a 30 percent chance of showers.

Top things to know:

  • The Oconee County Library offers a free class about Google Earth at 3 p.m. Registration is required. Please call 706-769-3950.
  • Teens ages 13-18 are invited to join the Oconee County Library's Young Adult staff's first annual Anime Club Holiday Party at 6 p.m. See more details.
  • Santa is scheduled to visit Fox's Pizza Den of Oconee from 5:30-7:30 p.m.  Stop by for free pictures with Santa during the holiday open house, organized by Fox's, Mack McClung of Allstate and Todd Whitaker of Edward Jones.  Face painting and gift wrapping will also be available.
  • The North Oconee High School arts department presents "The Nutcracker: A Modern Tale" at 6 p.m. inside the auditorium.  Tickets are $5 each.
  • Wednesday night is Trivia Night at Your Pie Watkinsville.  It begins at 7:30 p.m.
