An area business holds an event to celebrate the upcoming royal wedding. See what else there is to know in and around Oconee today.

1. Showers and thunderstorms are possible early with cloudy skies.  Sunny skies are likely later in the day.  Forecasts call for high temperatures in the mid 70s.

2. CareSouth visits the at 10:30 a.m. and will offer free blood pressure checks.  There will also be a program about fall prevention.

3. in the Georgia Square Mall is hosting 'Making Tiaras and Crowns for the Royal Wedding' from 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. and again from 6:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.  The event is free.

4. There will be an American Red Cross blood drive at Walton EMC at 842 U.S. Hwy 78 NW in Monroe.  Donate blood from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.  Call 770-266-2308 to make an appointment. Check out eligibility requirements and tips for donating.

"This show is best described as a bluegrass “ ‘Godspell’, director Lorraine Thompson said in a news release. "It is the telling of biblical stories with a definite southern twist."

It starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Athens Academy Presentation Hall and tickets are $2 for students and $5 for adults. Additional performances will be on Friday and Saturday at the same place and time.
