Happy National Pineapple Upside-down Cake Day!

1. There's a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms today that have the potential to become severe, the National Weather Service reports.  Highs will be in the mid 80s.

2. The Wellness Council of Northeast Georgia --a non-profit coalition of health care providers, agencies, community groups and individuals-- meets at 9 a.m. at the Oconee County Cooperative Extension Office. All are welcome to join the council.

3. Healthy Action Day is today's theme for the University of Georgia Health Center's and the Environmental Student Groups' celebration of Earth Week.  Students will be handing out information packets at the Tate Student Center plaza from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.  See Athens Patch for information about other .

3. Parents have an opportunity to weigh-in on drafts of report cards for the 2011-2012 school year.  The asks parents to review the drafts -- designed by a parental review panel, administrators, and teachers-- and , according to an announcement on the school system's website.
