Oconee Today -- April 18

Tax returns, Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests, and Summer Day Camp registration are just a few of the things to know about in Oconee today.

1. Monday's weather forecast mirrors what the weather was like on Sunday.  Sunshine is expected through much of the day, and highs will be in the mid to upper 70s, according to the National Weather Service.

2. has arrived. Tax returns must be filed with the Internal Revenue Service or extensions need to be requested by today.  E-filing is an option for many.  If mailing returns, they need to be postmarked by today's date.

3. Third through eighth graders in Oconee County schools begin Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests today in core subjects.  Superintendent John Jackson said at a that students should get plenty of rest and eat hearty breakfasts.

4. It's time to start registering for Summer Day Camps and Sports Camps at the Oconee County Parks and Recreation Department. Read about .

5. The council meets today at 7:30 p.m.  Among new business on the agenda is a business license request for Young Female Farmers and discussion about public hearings for the 2011-2012 budget.  See the attached PDF for a compete agenda.
