On October 26-27, hundreds of Junior 4-Hers from across the state gathered at Rock Eagle for the Georgia 4-H Junior Conference.

Oconee County took 10 seventh and eighth grade 4-H'ers to this annual event, along with a few senior 4-H'ers who either taught classes or performed in the spectacular Clovers and Company performance.

This was my first opportunity to serve in my new role as a district officer for the Northeast Junior Board.  In addition to helping plan some of the events, I spoke at state and district assemblies, and was in charge of activities.

These included helping clip hundreds of coupons for military families and boxing several thousand pounds of pop tabs which we collected to donate to the Ronald McDonald House.  We held an exhibit fair over the weekend that allowed 4-Hers to showcase their 4-H project work, participated in recreational activities such as basketball, volleyball, the "Rock Eagle Color Run," and a dance.  We attended multiple workshops and hands-on service project opportunities.

Junior Conference was a great opportunity to build leadership skills, exhibit generosity through service projects, and master various areas of subject matter.  The best part of the weekend was seeing old friends and making new ones from all over Georgia.
