Hundreds Don Retro Attire for 5K at Oconee Veterans Park

It was a step back in time Saturday evening, July 27, at Oconee Veterans Park where around 250 runners participated in the fourth annual Retro Run 5K.

The event, sponsored by the Oconee County Civitan Club, was a fundraiser that organizers expected to net $5,000 or more.

Civitan member and past president Dennise Grayson said the organization focuses on supporting children and adults with developmental disabilities.

This year, she said, a portion of funds raised will be earmarked for Watkinsville's Extra Special People's building fund.

Monies will also be given to the Civitan International Research Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
