John McNally Celebration Well Attended in Spite of Rain

On Saturday, August 17th, the Keep Oconee County Beautiful Commission hosted a Celebration of the Life of John McNally, the former Executive Director of Keep Oconee County Beautiful who passed away in August of 2012.
During the celebration, Oconee County Chairman Melvin Davis and former Mayor of Watkinsville spoke of their associations with John and his many accomplishments including his honorable service in the Navy and his incredible service to Oconee County.   Click here for more information.
The event was attended by members of John's family, Oconee County leaders, the Executive Director of Keep Georgia Beautiful, and current and former members of Keep Oconee County Beautiful.
In spite of the rainy day, the celebration went well and was a demonstration of the love and respect that we all felt for John.
Highlights of the event included the unveiling an engraved memorial stone, presentation of the inaugural "John McNally Environmental Stewardship Awards," and John's grandson singing a favorite song in memory of his grandfather.  Click here for photos from the event.
