It&rsquo\;s very similar to the Beat the Heat promotion we offered in February where we spayed o ver 300 female cats in one month. AAHS will be offering 180 $20 female bully-breed dog spays during the entire month of August. Pit bulls\, in particular\, end up in shelters in large numbers because of myths and negative media that impact public perceptions asso ciated with the breed.\n \;\n&ldquo\;The &lsquo\;Primp Your Pit (bul l)&rsquo\; promotion helps you and your dog\,&rdquo\; says Benna Cunnin gham\, AAHS Board President. &ldquo\;Spaying/neutering a pet is the mos t effective thing a pet parent can do to prevent unwanted litters and e nsure their pet lives a long\, happy life.&rdquo\; \;\n \;\nThe American Veterinary Medical Association endorses spaying and neutering puppies as young as eight to 10 weeks old\, and research shows that the procedure can improve the behavior and health of the pet\, including r educing the risk of certain reproductive cancers and infections.\n  \;\nIn an effort to prevent unwanted litters of pit bulls\, this special rate during the &ldquo\;Primp Your Pit (bull)&rdquo\; event applies to all residents of Athens\, GA and surrounding areas.
