 ill decorate them in class.Around the world\, most cultures have fired t
 o earthenware temperature. Robust\, unique ceramic traditions come out o
 f this history\, from the highly burnished pottery of the Mimbres to ele
 gant Iznik tableware. Today many ceramic artists still choose earthenwar
 e for its warmth and colorful appeal. In this class students learn lowfi
 re decorative techniques and fresh\, contemporary takes on the oldest ce
 ramic material. We will cover the pre-firing techniques of burnished ter
 ra sigillata\, slip work (including slip trailing\, marbleizing\, underg
 laze painting\, sgraffitto and mishima)\, silk screen printing and photo
  transfer\; the glazing techniques of maiolica\, cuerda seca\, and oxide
  washes\; and the post firing technique of decals. Students will bring t
 heir own forms and we will decorate them in class. For all levels of han
 d building and wheel throwing students.
