Composting is fundamental to a sustainable life-style, critical to organic gardening, is a important component in sustainable food systems and in reducing our use of fossil fuels. Whats not to love? Join Michael McLane as we cover the science behind composting, various composting techniques, compostable materials, bins, and uses. Students will leave this class knowing how to build and expand their composting capability.  Even experienced composters will learn something new!  5 person minimum. Advanced registration required.

Established in 1997, The Oakhurst Community Garden of the Wylde Center offers a wide range of classes, programs and special events for individuals, families and youth on such topics as organic gardening, sustainable urban living, nutrition and health. Its popular youth program is one of the metro-area’s largest and offers year-round educational programs. The two on-site gardens serve as gathering spaces, wildlife habitats and demonstration gardens. To get involved, be sure to sign up for a class or become a volunteer or a member.
