CHILDREN FIRST OF ATHENS GIVES LOCAL YOUTH A VOICE WITH ‘2^nd Annual GLEE OFF’

A Local Charity Event Gives High School Glee Clubs the Chance to Shine

ATHENS, GA (September 1, 2012)--- Children First of Athens, GA is giving local youth a voice in more ways than one with the presentation of the ‘2^nd Annual Glee Off.’ Local glee clubs will get the chance to shine in Children First’s major charity event for 2013. The Athens non-profit is continuing efforts to unite the community with a competition for Northeast Georgia high schools.

The teams will perform live on Sat., Feb. 2 at UGA’s Hodgson Hall to compete for a first-place cash prize of $1000 and the People’s Choice Award.

Each team will be required to upload a video of their performance to YouTube by sending a link to gleeoff@childrenfirst-inc.org by Nov. 17. The team with the most YouTube votes will win the People’s Choice Award.

Videos will be available for public voting until from Dec. 3, 2012 until Feb. 2, 2013. The esteemed panel of judges will award a $1000 cash prize to the top performance at the live event.

Community members can get involved by going to the link below and voting for their favorite performance to win the People’s Choice Award.

Children First wants to highlight the talent of Georgia’s youth while raising awareness for their cause.

“Giving these children the opportunity to showcase their skills while building unity within each school’s community is exactly what we are about. Children need the support of their community to prosper, and that’s what we are dedicated to,” said Mary Joyce, Advocacy Specialist at Children First.

Children First is a nonprofit agency serving children and families in the Athens area. Children First engages families in the community and through the courts to ensure safe, stable, nurturing living environments for children. All proceeds of this event benefit Children First, Inc.
