Taxi Driver Suspected of Dealing Marijuana out of Cab - Dunwoody Patch Dunwoody Police arrested a taxi driver who was allegedly dealing marijuana from his taxi. According to the Dunwoody Police Department's Facebook page, Officer Drum pulled over the taxi as it sped at 43 miles per hour through a 25 mile-per-hour school zone on Monday. Police discovered that the driver, Jean Brown, had an outstanding warrant. Family of Five Displaced Due to House Fire - Lawrenceville Patch A family of five has been displaced due to a fire that completely destroyed their Lawrenceville home. While no injuries were reported, the family's two cats have not been located since the fire broke out, according to Gwinnett County Fire spokesman Lt. Colin Rhoden. The blaze appeared to have originated in the basement of the two-story single-family home, and fire crews battled the flames from the inside and outside. Driver Dies After Crashing Into Pole, Car Engulfed in Flames - Lilburn Patch One person is reported dead after a car crashed into a pole and became engulfed in flames in Lilburn. According to Lilburn Police Chief Bruce Hedley, multiple witnesses observed the driver of a small, red-colored SUV traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Lawrenceville Highway around 3:40 p.m. Tuesday (April 23). Guidebooks Cause Bomb Scare - Buckhead Patch A set of Buckhead Guidebooks placed near a Buckhead bank on Wednesday caused a bomb scare and shut down Roswell and West Wieuca roads for a few hours while police investigated the suspicious package. Explosion Reported on Memorial Drive, One Man Injured - East Atlanta Patch Atlanta police and a number of federal and state agencies are investigating an explosion at 1599 Memorial Drive that sent a man to the hospital. One in Coma, Three Arrested After Bar Fight - Douglasville Patch Three men have been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and battery after a bar fight that put a man in a chemically induced coma to be treated for his head injuries, according to a report from the Villa Rica Police Department. Officials in Walton County Investigating a Suspicious Death - Loganville Patch Brandon Rhinehart, 26, of Loganville, died on April 9, 2013, two days after he sustained a beating, allegedly at the hands of two Loganville women. Loganville Deputy Police Chief Dick Lowry confirmed Rhinehart's death is part of an open investigation. "We can't draw any conclusions until we get the toxicology and autopsy results, but it is an open investigation at this time," Lowry said. 'Numerous' Computers Taken in Cobb Child Porn Operation - Kennesaw Patch The Cobb County Police Department seized "numerous" computers as part of a multi-agency operation that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesman called the "largest of its kind in Georgia." Cops: Dog Disfigured in Austell - South Cobb Patch An Austell man is accused of repeatedly striking a dog in the face and head with a broken metal broom handle. The incident occurred around 6:15 a.m. Friday in the 1800 block of Sylvia Street.
