Zach Mettenberger, Former Oconee County Star, to Start For LSU

The quarterback was briefly on the University of Georgia squad before being dismissed by coach Mark Richt in 2010.

Oconee County High School graduate Zach Mettenberger starts at quarterback this Saturday for the LSU Tigers.

Mettenberger, who started his college career with the University of Georgia but was dismissed after pleading guilty to two charges of misdemeanor sexual battery in 2010, is eager to put the past behind him, Yahoo Sports reports.

"There's a little bit of pressure to show I'm a different person, but not too bad though," Mettenberger told Yahoo. "I just believe that time heals all wounds. People close to me know that I've changed and if I keep progressing like I am and just maturing then everybody will see that."

Mettenberger completed 8 of 11 passes for 92 yards during five appearances for LSU last year.

Oconee star? Are you kidding me? He never made any all region teams, never had a winning season, never was a leader. And he was a star? Give me a break.
