With No Powerball Winner the Jackpot Jumps to $425 Million

With sales expected to pick up before Wednesday's drawing, what is already the largest Powerball prize in history could go even higher.

With no winning ticket purchased for Saturday's drawing, the Powerball jackpot and the top prize will now increase to about $425 million for the next drawing, according to USA Today. The is the largest jackpot ever for the game.

Iowa Lottery spokeswoman Mary Neubauer told USA Today sales were strong over the holiday week for Saturday's drawing, which was estimated at $325 million before the numbers were picked. She said Wednesday's drawing could go even higher than the estimated $425 million as sales are expected to pick up in advance of Wednesday's drawing.

Maybe it will even reach half a billion dollars by the time the winning ticket is drawn. So will you be buying a ticket now?

Why not award 1 million dollars to 400 winners instead of 400 million to one winner.?
