When is Georgia's Sales Tax Holiday Weekend?

Certain items will be exempt from sales tax during the two-day event, Aug. 10-11, 2012.

For the first time since 2009, Georgians will have the chance to make tax-exempt purchases of school supplies and related items during the state’s “back to school” sales tax holiday weekend.

“It is an excellent opportunity for parents to save money on basic necessities when getting their children ready for the coming school year” said Georgia Department of Revenue Commissioner Doug MacGinnitie in a released statement.

From Aug. 10-11, clothing and footwear costing $100 or less per item will be exempt from sales tax. Personal computers and computer-related accessories costing $1,000 or less will also be exempt. General school supplies priced at $20 or less per item are also eligible.

For more information about the sales tax holiday and a list of tax-exempt items, visit the Georgia Department of Revenue website.
