What Petition Would You Like to File with the Obama White House?

On the official website of the White House is a facility opening a petition on any issue that you feel needs addressing. What would you like to petition the U.S. Government to do?

The Obama White House offers citizens the opportunity to file a petition on its official website. Several people have already opened petitions asking other people to join them in asking for a variety of issues to be considered by the administration. Included in those petitions gaining popularity are a couple relating to Japan’s territorial issues.

Closer to home, are a couple of petitions asking for mandatory labeling of genetically engineered food as well as a petition to prevent the FDA to regulate premium cigars. At last count, more than 30,500 people had digitally signed that petition. There also was a petition, garnering a little slower support, requesting that the state of Louisiana be allowed to peacefully withdraw from the United States of America and create its own new government.

What petition would you like filed with the Obama Administration?

I see there is now a petition for a recount of the election and some people want Texas to join Louisiana in withdrawing from the United States. I'm thinking this website might not stay up for too long.

I'm with waving_girl here. Some citizens of Lousiana -- a client state that takes in far more federal money than it pays out in taxes -- want to secede because they don't like the outcome of a free and fair election? I imagine they'd sing a different tune once Social Security, Medicare, federal trade protections, etc., were gone. Sometimes elections don't go your way. We've all lived through situations where we really, really wish the other guy had won. But agree or disagree with him, like him or hate him, the idea that Barack Obama's policies will somehow destroy the United States simply has no basis in fact. There are arguments to be made about their effectiveness or lack thereof, but it is a fantasy to suggest that Obama is a harbinger of the apocalypse. His domestic agenda pretty much mirrors Bill Clinton's domestic agenda, and the U.S. was still around and doing fine when Clinton left office.

As far as Texas and Louisiana leaving the US, I guess they don't like the highway systems, the military, etc. To the "new order" I am not sure what the point of that message is. I personally love our form of government and the people of our country. I am not so sure the radicals on both sides (left or right) can say the same thing.

I'd file a petition and strongly protest the Obama Administrations Endorsement of the New U.N. Arms Trade Treaty Negotiations.

Just as NRA warned would happen, following the election, the Obama administration has moved forward with its plans to support a United Nations Arms Trade Treaty. On Wednesday November 7, the U.S. Mission to the U.N. made clear its support for renewed ATT negotiations, casting a vote in favor of resolution A/C.1/67/L.11. The resolution calls for a "Final United Nations Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty" to be held in New York City from March 18-28.Undeterred by the failure of July's U.N. Conference on the ATT, in recent months the global civilian disarmament groups and their patron governments have been working nonstop to revive the treaty. Most visible were the attempts made by participants at the Second Review Conference of the UN Programme of Action on Small Arms and Light Weapons. At the conference, U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon used his time to state, "an arms trade treaty is long overdue… I urge you to redouble efforts to agree on a robust 'ATT' as soon as possible."

I would love to see maraijuna regulated by states officially. If Georgians don't want it then it should be illegal here but it would boost out economy, provide jobs, save on prosecutions, and bring in tax money. If people are getting high all day and not helping boost the economy at least we can make some money off them.

Im just one of the vets who have been told to expect at least two Years or more before I hear about my claim. WHY? Im a disabled veteran who wants only for the GI bill to give us the respect that we have earned. We voted for you. because we need you to help the people who have fought to protect our country with our lives, Some Wounds never heal. But we have been treated like dirt far too long!! The beauty of living in a REPUBLIC, the voice of the majority rules the day, so when in the minority, respect the choices and plan for the next vote. The removal of the requirement to pay back the original Bush first time home buyers tax credit. Considering that the Obama credit doesn't need to be payed back and the considerable amount of corporate kickbacks there are about today. This would put an exit $500 a year in millions of homeowners pockets

Really, PATCH? Are you trying to keep this hateful and sour grapes rhetoric going indefinitely? Because, it will - 4 more long years of this stuff. I don't think that's much of a community service. Time to move on and promote healing, not keep stirring it up. Personally, I'm elated and relieved. I know there are many more who feel that way than don't - just not here in the great state of Georgia. Better get used to it, though - in 2016, GA may be purple.

What hateful rhetoric, Mr. B? It's not hateful just because you disagree, but I have seen and read lots of hateful in these posts. You have, too, but not from me. Perhaps I didn't use enough emoticons? Now, if I see hateful rhetoric or if it's directed at moi, I will respond. Truth and facts are not rhetoric. Notice, I didn't accuse Patch, I asked a question and would like an answer. You see, no longer than I have been following and participating, it seems to me the questions are posed in such a way as to INVITE anti-Obama and anti-Democrat comments. I would just like to see questions aimed at the conservo-cons :) Correct me if I'm wrong, please sir, but on another blog wasn't it you who directly accused PATCH of slanting left? I wouldn't say proud, just secure in my political views. Some of these opinion-inducing Patch questions did at least have a purpose before the election. Now what's the point if not to keep folks nipping at each other who will never agree? Let's get some fresh and purposeful questions, like "What will you ask your Congressional representatives to do to work toward the nation's betterment, in the way of compromise or good ideas?" or, "Do you plan to write your Senators and Congressmen and ask them to get to work, stop taking so many vacations and come to terms with what needs to be done to avoid an 11th hour debt ceiling crisis ala last summer? There, that's what I mean post election. You're welcome.

Mr. B, the President had to get us out of the deeper-than-anyone-thought financial hole. And is still paying for the GWB wars. The debt figure includes interest on past debt. In other words, he's (we're) paying Republican invoices along with current and ongoing needs. What was Bush's excuse for debt increase? Right, tax cuts unpaid for - had to spend the surplus Clinton left, 2 wars unpaid for, Medicare Part D unpaid for. The answer to your question is, he's not going to resign. Here's a link that all the dooms-day, apocalyptic gloomy gusses should read (be sure to look at all the graphs), unless they just enjoy their dark funk, in which case, nevermind : http://www.policymic.com/articles/9069/has-obama-spent-more-than-any-other-u-s-president-in-history-yes-and-no

I certainly don't deny Bush spent too much. He seemed to have forgotten he had the power of the veto. BUt Obama spent more in one year than Bush did in all eight of his.
But the question was concerning my congressional representatives. They are the ones I suggest resign. I have a suggestion for Obama too but that wasn't the question.

Sorry, Mr. B. Guess I was on the wrong page. But they ain't gonna resign unless there's a scandal. No doubt there's too much waste and mis-spending. The Obama spending in the first couple of years was largely b/c of the Bush debt and interest on that debt, and the fiscal grand canyon. Hope you looked at the charts and saw what I did - the percentages have gone down. You can't just look at the numbers, you have to look at the trend.

Mr. B, you know the Iraqis didn't start a war, nor ask for their country to be destroyed, which we now must, and should, rebuild - more spending that President Obama will be blamed for. OBL and Al Queda members were from Saudi Arabia, hanging out in Afghanistan. Would we still be there with troops if there were no Iraqi invasion, if the focus had stayed on OBL in Afghanistan with our might and treasures? Would 9/11 have happened if the Bush Admin. hadn't ignored intelligence reports of the impending attack by airplane - a pretty big clue right there - to stop it? What's that you say? That's what I thought.

Some interesting reading: " . . . in early 1996, American officials regarded Osama bin Laden as a financier of terrorism and not as a mastermind largely because, at the time, there was no real evidence that bin Laden had harmed American citizens. So even if the Sudanese government really did offer to hand bin Laden over, the U.S. would have had no grounds for detaining him. In fact, the Justice Department did not secure an indictment against bin Laden until 1998 – at which point Clinton did order a cruise missile attack on an al Qaeda camp in an attempt to kill bin Laden. http://www.factcheck.org/2008/01/clinton-passed-on-killing-bin-laden/

Someone in Athens-Clarke County can start a petition to get "Dr." Paul Broun to resign from the US House of Representatives Science, Space and Technology Committee. And, then from Congress while he's at it. How can a doctor not believe in science? He was unopposed, but Charles Darwin had 4000 write-in votes. That's hilarious, but bad for science and bad for Georgia's image. "In a September 27 speech, Paul Broun, a physician and member of the U.S. House of Representatives Science, Space and Technology Committee, called evolution and the Big Bang Theory, "lies straight from the pit of hell." http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/11/09/us-usa-campaign-georgia-idUSBRE8A813W20121109

I would like to know since when do the American, Tax Paying Citizens take a back seat to some Spindly, Inexperienced, Chicago Corrupt, Reverend Wright Denying, Bone Headed Community Organizer elected AND sworn to protect Americans and the Constitution? Answer? - 2008

Since when is the American public supposed to shut up and turn a blind eye EVERY TIME a scandal arises under the Obama Administration? Obama has failed to follow through with promises of transparency. In other words, HE LIED! Obama promised that Joe Biden would not only keep a close eye on the Stimulus funding but Obama promised that the stimulus spending would be online for the world to see. What Happened? Did the Webmaster Czar fail Obama?

It is sad enough that the American electorate is immature, ignorant, careless and stupid enough to elect Obama for President but it’s horrific to imagine that these fools actually believe that our Nation is better under Obama’s Rule and that America can sustain such a disaster for eight years. This nation is destined to fail and for some reason the Obama stooges are loving every minute of it. These are Occuturds and parents of said scum-baggery.
