Weekend Planner: Bike Rodeo, Farmer's Market and Quintet

Here is our pick of activities going on in or around Oconee County this weekend.

 

Where/When: Friday, June 8 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bogart Library

Why Go: Teen volunteers will be performing two stories at the library today. On the agenda are "You are Special" and "The Big Red Tractor."

Pricing: Free

Where/When: Friday, June 8 at noon at the Oconee County Library

Why Go: Bikers of all ages will learn bike safety tips and riders can have their helmets checked at this event. Free and open to the community, safety always comes first.

Pricing: Free

Where/When: Saturday, June 9 at 23 North Main Street in Watkinsville. The market is open from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Why Go: Here's your chance to buy local grown plants and veggies, meat, dairy products and baked goods. Support local and regional farmers by visiting the Oconee Farmers Market!

Pricing: Free to look, items available for purchase.

Where/When: Saturday, June 9 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at ATHICA in Athens

Why Go: This will be a fun day of activities designed to inspire participants to get creative with materials usually destined for the landfill.

Pricing: $6 to $9 per family donations are suggested, this pricing includes instruction and materials.

Where/When: Sunday, June 10 at the University of Georgia from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Coach Mark Fox of UGA is hosting this basketball camp where players will focus on fundamentals and how to implement skills into a 5 on 5 game.

Pricing: $40

Where/When: Sunday, June 10 at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: Everyone needs to relax and what better place do so than the State Botanical Garden in Athens. Visitors will enjoy a free concert in the air-conditioned conservatory.
