Wayne Bagley Will Run to Retain Seat on School Board

He believes continuity on the Board is important as a new superintendent takes the reins.

Wayne Bagley announced Wednesday he will run as the incumbent for election to Post 5 of the Oconee County Board of Education.

Bagley was appointed in October 2010 to the post left vacant when Tom Breedlove resigned in May of the same year.

"I've really enjoyed the experience over the past year and a half and I think we've really focused on what's best for the students and county," he said. "Obviously the academic achievements speaks for themselves."

Continuity among the Board is important, especially with the incoming of Superintendent Jason Branch, Bagley said.

"I'm excited to see what direction he's going to take the school and I want to support Dr. Branch to take us even higher."

Bagley, the Vice President of Development for Lassiter Properties, Inc., has two sons in Oconee County Schools, a fifth grader at Rocky Branch Elementary and a seventh grader at Malcom Bridge Middle School.

i think Wayne is a very good choice for the people of Oconee County to continue his role on the School Board. He is very accesible on a weekly basis for residents to talk to and he listens to the concerns of the parents and residents of Oconee County. I would be proud to know Mr. Bagley would continue his tenure as a school board member. I currently have 2 children in the system and have always been treated with courtesy and an open ear to any and all concerns that my wife and I may have had. This one is a keeper.
