Watkinsville Police: Woman Accused of Stealing Washer and Dryer
The following information was supplied by the Watkinsville police department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
In his weekly news release, Watkinsville Police Chief Lee O'Dillon recapped some of the incidents that police responded to during the week ending Jan. 29.
- On Monday, Jan. 23 Watkinsville Police arrested Charline H. Jenkins, 38, of VFW Drive, and charged her with felony theft by taking. The arrest warrant alleges Jenkins fraudulently obtained a Matag washer and dryer combination from The Home Depot. She was booked into the Oconee County Jail.
- A traffic stop Monday, Jan. 23 landed a Pickens County man in jail. At 9:07 p.m., police stopped a 1998 Chevrolet pick-up along Whitehall Road for a minor traffic violation. A computer check revealed that a 38-year-old Jasper mN was wanted on a failure to appear warrant from the Gainesville Police Department. He was booked into the Oconee County Jail awaiting pick-up by Gainesville police.
- Thursday morning, Jan. 26 city police arrested Lanny Eugene Roland, Jr., 41, of Pecan Bluff Drive on Athens-Clarke County warrants charging him with exploitation of an elderly person and forgery in the first degree. Roland was booked into the Oconee County Jail awaiting pick-up by Athens-Clarke County.
- At 7:59 Thursday morning, police were called to Highway 15 near Barnett Shoals Road after a 1992 Nissan Pathfinder pulled into the path of a southbound 2000 Honda Prelude. No one was injured. A 17-year-old Oconee County driver was charged with failure to yield to the right of way.
- On Thursday, a resident of Mimosa Drive reported that someone had entered his unlocked Mazda pickup overnight and stolen several item including a MP3 player and some work tools. The value of the stolen property is about $225.
- Thursday afternoon police were called to a domestic situation at a Taylor’s Drive address. A woman was having an argument with her 30-year-old son. The adult son was asked to leave the residence.
- Police stopped a 2009 Ford Ranger along Whitehall Road after observing it crossing over the double yellow center line early Saturday morning, Jan. 28 A 21-year-old resident of Whippoorwill Road, refused to co-operate or submit to any sobriety testing. He was charged with DUI and failure to maintain lane.
- On Saturday afternoon police were called to Main Street at Whitehall Road after a 2000 Ford Escort struck a 1996 Honda Accord in the intersection. The driver of the Honda was slightly injured. A 50-year-old South Carolina man was cited with running a red light.
- Police were called to a domestic situation on Charity Lane around 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29. A man and woman were arguing over a teenage daughter and surrounding issues. The man agreed to leave the house for awhile.
Police responded to a total of 33 calls within city limits between Monday, Jan. 23 and Sunday, Jan. 29.
