Watkinsville PD Blotter

A road rage incident landed a Muscogee County man in jail.

In his weekly news release, Watkinsville Police Chief Lee O'Dillon recapped some of the incidents that police responded to during the week ending April 10.

  • On April 4, a Muscogee County man was arrested after an incident of road rage.  Two drivers had reportedly exchanged words and hand gestures while traveling on Experiment Station Road towards Watkinsville. At the intersection of Experiment Station Road and North Main Street, one driver allegedly blocked the other driver.  The man then got out of his vehicle yelling and allegedly struck the other driver several times with a fist, before getting back in the car and fleeing down Experiment Station Road.  The 20-year-old victim had visible injuries to the face but they were not serious, police said.  Oconee County Sheriff's Office assisted in the arrest of John Russell Smith, 45, of Columbus who was charged with DUI, battery, and prescription drugs not in the original container after being detained near the Highway 441 by-pass,  O'Dillon said.
  • On April 7, Jacob Aubrey Mobley, 21, of a Macon Highway address was arested and charged with DUI and failure to dim headlights after being stopped by police on Harden Hill Road at 2:55 a.m., O'Dillon said.
  • Officers were called to a Cedar Hill Circle address on April 10 after someone reportedly broke the window of a Ford Econoline work van and stole hand and power tools, O'Dillon said.

Watkinsville police responded to a total of 31 calls within city limits between Monday, April 4 and Sunday, April 10, O'Dillon said.
