UPDATE: Watkinsville Man Arrested on Molestation Charges

The arrest warrant was issued in Athens on Thursday. An arrest doesn't mean a conviction.

Update: According to Police Chief Lee O'Dillon, bond has been set at $25,000.

Watkinsville Police on Thursday arrested a 38-year old Watkinsville man on charges of child molestation and sexual battery.

An arrest warrant was issued at River Oaks Apartments in Athens where the man was performing maintenance for his employer, Greenleaf Management, Police Chief Lee O'Dillon said.

The warrant alleges the molestation occurred between Nov. 1, 2011, and Jan. 13, 2013, in Watkinsville.

O'Dillon said the 12-year-old victim confided about the alleged abuse to her friends, who shared the information with their parents.  The adults contacted police, and the Department of Family and Children Services became involved, he said.

Kenneth Troy Cobb was booked into the Oconee County Jail on one count of child molestation and one count of sexual battery of a child under 16.

An investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming, O'Dillon said.

These are serious charges and without due process and good investigation, both parties should have the right to some privacy. If it is true or not, both families will suffer greatly.
