Video: Monument Dedication Marks 35th Anniversary of Death of Bogart Policeman
Patrolman Herbert Daniel Johnson "was doing what he loved for the town that he loved" when his watch ended on Dec. 7, 1977.
Thirty-five years ago, Bogart Patrolman Herbert Daniel Johnson said good-bye to his family and headed out to assist a tow truck with the removal of an abandoned car. He was struck by a vehicle and never came home.
The Bogart community Sunday ensured Johnson would never be forgotten with the dedication of a monument in his honor, located across from City Hall.
Additionally, a portrait of Johnson hangs inside City Hall and his story will also be included in a section of a museum currently under construction by the Bogart Historical Society.
