Tighter Budget Means Reduction in Library Hours
The schedule of open hours at the Oconee County and Bogart libraries will change on Aug. 1.
A 10 percent cut in the 2012 budget has prompted cuts in service hours at Oconee County libraries, the Athens Banner-Herald reported.
Oconee County Librarian Jackie Elsner told the newspaper that the Bogart Library will close on Saturdays and the Oconee County Library will close early at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Aug. 1, a decision she said was made by library board members.
"The Oconee County Library will still be open seven days a week," Elsner told the newspaper. "(And) there's a library open every night."
