Student at Gainesville State College in Watkinsville Investigated in Fake ID Ring

Officials haven't made arrests in that case, but they just busted a group at UGA, according to reports.

Two students, one from UGA and the other enrolled at Gainesville State College in Watkinsville, are believed to be the ringleaders of a group that distributed more than 1,000 fake IDs to students.

According to a report by The Athens Banner-Herald, the group, which has been under investigation since August 2011, charged up to $100 for counterfeit driver’s licenses from several states that college students used to get into bars.

No charges have been filed yet in that case, the Banner-Herald reports, but a separate ring at UGA has been broken up, leading to the arrest of three students.

Investigators took out 56 warrants charging one student as the ringleader and two others as distributors. Nelson Agaturuchi Nwannunu, 20; Tom Lennart Larsson, 20; and Zain Haider Abidi, 18 are facing felony charges of manufacturing and distributing fake IDs.
