Strange Police News of the Week: Pretty Money and Arrest for DUI on a Child-sized Motorbike

Unusual police stories from Northeast Georgia.

With a slight-of-hand and some smooth talking, two women with Eastern European accents made off with $841 in cash from the Hamilton Mill Walmart near Dacula. While checking out, one woman twice took money out of till, then gave some of it back to the clerk, saying the bills were “very pretty and she wanted to look at them because money was boring looking where she came from.” The clerk didn’t suspect a thing.

In Winder, a resident told a deputy with the Barrow County Sheriff's Office that she was attacked by three females after she and one of the females were “talking smack” on Facebook. The three females allegedly punched her, knocked her to the ground and kicked her in the head. The alleged attackers said the complainant had been harassing them and that her boyfriend started the fight.

In a tug-of-weed, a teenage boy was injured when he tried to make a drug sale through the window of a car and was dragged down the road. Once the teen "let go of the drugs, the driver let him go," according to Gwinnett County Police.

Norcross Police officers found a man's story unbelievable — meaning they didn't believe it. He called police to report his wife had attacked him and cut his arm with a kitchen knife after an argument over baking a cake. But police determined it was impossible that the woman was capable of such an assault. She suffers from COPD, uses a walker and has had four strokes.

The lessons at Vacation Bible School at Hebron Baptist Church in Dacula went beyond the 10 Commandments. Don’t leave your cell phone sitting on your Bible is another. Someone apparently snatched a girl’s cell phone when she went to play with friends.

Police probably don’t get this kind of DUI stop very often. An inebriated Athens man was arrested after he was stopped for drunk driving on a child-sized motorbike around 2 a.m. one early morning. He just wanted some cigars, he told Athens-Clarke County Police.

A drunken man who ended up in a restraint seat at the Gwinnett County Detention Center had a night he’ll probably never remember. But it was one Lilburn Police officers won’t soon forget. The man, wearing no shirt or shoes, tried to enter a woman’s house through a back door, then after arrested, repeatedly slammed his head against the inside of a squad car and urinated in the back seat. He wasn’t done. While being escorted from the patrol car to jail, he stepped out of his pants and walked the rest of the way wearing just socks and boxer shorts.
