Fortunately the shop was relatively empty and no one was seriously injured when a van drove through the storefront of Chandlee Jewelers around 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 28, 2012.

One customer, a 63-year-old Athens woman who had been seated near the front of the store, was thrown about 15 feet from her chair.  She was treated and later released from an area hospital.

The driver, 63, from Winterville, told authorities an object rolled from beneath her seat and obstructed the Honda Odyssey's pedals.  A CO2 cylinder was found in the front seat, according to a Georgia State Patrol trooper, who said the driver does not face criminal charges.

The shop, which specializes in jewelry sales and repair, reopened for business on Monday.
