State Patrol Charges Woman With Meth Possession During Oconee Traffic Stop

Authorities say the driver was stopped for weaving. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

The Georgia State Patrol charged an Athens woman with possession of methamphetamine after a traffic stop in Oconee County on July 31.

According to a GSP public information officer, the driver of a vehicle was stopped on GA 10 at mile marker 3 around 5:15 p.m. last Tuesday for weaving and traveling 10-15 miles per hour under the posted speed limit.

During a search of the vehicle, the trooper reports finding a glass pipe and suspected methamphetamine in the woman's purse.

Sandra Ann Stanfield, 42, of Winterville Road, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, failure to maintain lane and a license violation. She was taken to the Oconee County Jail and later released on bond.
