Second Suspect Charged with Burglary of Watkinsville Home

Police say they found the woman inside when they went to check on the residence Wednesday. An arrest isn't a conviction.

A 26-year-old Watkinsville woman was taken into custody Wednesday after police say they found her inside of a Cedar Drive duplex when they arrived to conduct a burglary investigation.

Officers checked on the residence following the arrest of a 30-year-old Colbert man during a traffic stop on New High Shoals Road that morning.  Aaron Tyler Poss had been driving a truck that didn't belong to him, Police Chief Lee O'Dillon said.

According to O'Dillon, officers located the registered owner of the truck , who is currently being housed in the Madison County Jail.  The victim told police that no one should be driving his truck or in possession of his credit cards or any other property belonging to him.

Officers then went to the Cedar Drive address and found the back door forcibly opened and Timberly Kay Denton of Arrowhead Road inside, O'Dillon said.

Denton attempted to flee but was taken into custody and charged with burglary, he said.

O'Dillon said he doesn't know yet how long they the couple may have been staying inside the home.

"They had personal knowledge that the victim was in jail, so they broke in and helped themselves," he said, adding that more charges are pending.
