Theft of ammo: Two cases of ammunition were reportedly missing on Jan. 9 from an open carport on Bouldercrest Circle.  The theft occurred sometime during the past month.  The case of 4570 ammo contained about 300 rounds and is valued at $400.  The case of 3040 ammo also contained about 300 rounds and is valued at $400.

Criminal Trespass: Sometime between 12 p.m. on Dec. 31 and 10:20 a.m. on Jan. 7, someone broke a window on the door leading from the garage to a house in the 1200 block of Woodlands Road.  The house is vacant and it didn't appear anyone had been inside.

Tenant Troubles: A woman on Jan. 7 reported several items as missing from her property in the 1200 block of Old Watson Springs Road.  She told deputies that a tenant who'd recently been evicted from the property had previously taken several items, and upon checking the residence, she discovered other items were missing as well.  A mailbox, clothes dryer, curtains,blinds, a fireplace screen and a rug are among the missing items.

Wall Paper Shoplifting Attempt: On Jan. 9. deputies were called to Lowe's after a security guard said he witnessed a woman cut open a roll of wall paper border and conceal it in her purse.  Then, along with a lamp, he said she attempted to leave the store without paying for the items.  Sarah Shannon Seagraves, 48, of Athens, was charged with theft by shoplifting. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

Purse Taken: A woman reported on Jan. 9 that her car, parked at Home Depot, had been entered.  She said she may have left the driver's side door unlocked.  A purse and its contents, valued at around $100, was removed.  The theft occurred sometime between 6:15 and 10 p.m.
