The Great American Dawg Jump at Oconee Veterans Park got underway on Saturday.

The event is presented by the Dixie Dock Dogs and will run "Big Air Wave" competitions until July 4.

The Big Air is most popular in the competition and involves the dogs' owners throwing a toy into a large pool of water that the dog jumps after. Measurements are taken as soon as the dogs' tails meets the water. Each animal has 90 seconds to jump and is allowed two jumps per competition.

Sunday's event begins at 7:30 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m. while Monday's competition begins at 9 a.m. and finishes at 3:30 p.m.
