Rape Reported at Westside Athens Apartment -- Athens Patch
Athens police are investigating a reported rape that occurred over the last weekend of 2012, according to a news release from the police department.
A 35-year-old woman told police that two men she knew had been let into her apartment. The suspects maneuvered her into a bedroom and forced her to have sex with them.
The victim did not report use of a weapon and did not sustain serious physical injury, according to the release.
Angela "Angie" Gail Cornett, 41, who serves as District 3 representative and vice chairman, is accused of accelerating her Lexus and hitting the girl's right leg with the front, passenger tire of the vehicle during a dispute about the parking space.
"From watching the video, it's obvious the pedestrian was standing there when the vehicle lurched forward and has to move out of the way very quickly," Sgt. Jonathan Rogers said. "You can't tell close how she was struck or exactly how hard she was struck, but you can see that she was standing there when the vehicle lurched forward and had to move out of the way quickly."
