Oconee Today - Sept. 2

A First Friday in Watkinsville celebration, final day for qualifying for mayor or city council in Bogart, and an appearance on the Lifetime Network by a local author are a few things to know about in Oconee today.

Weather: Sunny skies with high temperatures approaching the high 90s. Expect clear skies overnight and a low temperatures dipping down to the high 60s, according to the National Weather Service.

Things to Know

  • Today is the final day of qualifying for mayor and city council in . All interested candidates must file a notice of candidacy and pay registration fees by 4 p.m. today.
  • Today is First Friday in the city of Watkinsville and runs from 6 to 9 p.m. The event includes food, artist booths and music. There will also be free activities for kids, such as hayrides, a mister tent and a moonwalk.
  • Oconee County Farmers Market vendor and author Dac Crossley will be on the Lifetime Network's "The Balancing Act," Friday morning from 7 to 8 a.m., where he will discuss his latest book,
