Oconee Today -- Sept. 18

Rain and thunderstorms dominate the forecast for Tuesday.

 

Weather: You won't want to forget your umbrella as you head out of the door; the Weather Channel is calling for a 100 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms throughout the day. Some storms could become severe.  A high temperature of 75 is expected.

Top things to know:

  • Every Tuesday the Rotary Club of Oconee County meets at 7 a.m. in the Watkinsville Community Center for a continental breakfast and presentation. Today's guest speaker is Brian Carriga, the Founder & President of Remain At Home Senior Care.  Guests are welcome to attend at a cost of $5 per person.
  • Join the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce ambassadors for a ribbon cutting at Athens Ford starting at 10 a.m.  The dealership is located at 4260 Atlanta Highway.
  • Learn about "Keeping Fresh Garden Flavor All Year Long" at a canning workshop at the State Botanical Garden.  The third class in the three-part series takes place from 4:30-6 p.m. in Classroom 2 of the Visitors Center.  Cost per class is $18 for non-members or $15 for members.
  • The Pilot Club of Oconee County is holding an Italian dinner fundraiser from at 6:30 p.m. at the Watkinsville Community Center.  Tickets are $10 each. Learn more.
