Oconee Today -- Nov. 13

Here's what's happening in and around Oconee today.

 

Weather: According to the Weather Channel, we'll see partly cloudy skies and highs in the low to mid 60s today with an overnight low of 40 degrees.

Top things to know:

  • All this week, Watkinsville First Baptist Church is serving as the drop off location for Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes. See this announcement for more details and hours.
  • The Rotary Club of Oconee County meets at 7 a.m. in the Watkinsville Community Center for a continental breakfast and presentation. Today's guest speaker is Dr. Charles S. Bullock, III who will present "2012 Elections - What Happened and Why." Guests are welcome to attend at a cost of $5 per person.
  • The Oconee County Library holds a storytime for ages 2 to 5 and their parents or caregivers every Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Storytime sessions are at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.
  • All are invited to play duplicate bridge at the Watkinsville Community Center every Tuesday at 1 p.m.  Cost is $4.  The group also meets on Fridays.
  • Want to learn how to swing dance? DanceFX studio in Athens offers beginner and advanced classes for $5 each every Tuesday from starting at 7 p.m.  A dance follows from 8-10 p.m.
  • Dunkin' Donuts in Watkinsville hosts a fundraiser today.  Stop by anytime between 6 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. and 10% of all receipt sales will go to Oconee County Elementary or Oconee County Primary schools.
