Oconee Today -- May 23

Candidate qualifying, a called meeting of the Development Review Committee, and table tennis lessons are a few of the things to know about in and around Oconee today.

 

Weather: The middle of the work week will be mostly sunny with a high of 85 degrees. The Weather Channel's forecast calls for a 20 percent chance of rain.  Skies will be clear overnight and lows will be in the mid 60s.

Top things to know:

  • The candidate qualifying period begins today at 9 a.m. and wraps up on Friday at noon.  We'll provide updates as information becomes available.
  • The Oconee County Development Review Committee is meeting in a called session at 9 a.m. to discuss the preliminary plat and site development plans for the Caterpillar project.  The meeting takes place in the planning department conference room.
  • Bogart Library holds a summer reading program kick-off at 10:30 a.m. that will feature a show of juggling, circus skills, and magic.
  • Free table tennis training is available from 6-9 p.m. at Oconee Veterans Park's Community Center for county residents who possess valid gym passes.
