Oconee Today - March 30th!

You'll likely need your umbrella for the afternoon!

WEATHER: The bright sunshine and clear skies of this week will come to an end today. With a high of 80, the chance of rain is 40% and predictions are that we’ll see afternoon showers or thunderstorms.

  • The calendar says that March 30th is National Doctor’s Day, I Am In Control Day, AND Take a Walk In The Park Day. Whichever you decide to celebrate today, save some energy for Saturday’s festivities – Bunsen Burner Day and National Clam on a Half Shell Day. Really!
  • Barnett Shoals Spring Fling – 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. at Barnett Shoals Elementary School. Come enjoy the Spring Fling Carnival. Entrance is $4 for ages 13-17 and includes full access to all attractions. Family fun that includes lots of activities and entertainment. Proceeds benefit the BNES PTO.
  • Come see the Oconee Youth Playhouse with their presentation of “Snoopy the Musical” at 7:00 at the Oconee County Civic Center. A second show is Saturday at 7:00 and on Sunday at 2:00.
  • Come find your best friend at a multi-shelter pet adoption event presented by the Athens Area Human Society. The Royal Pet-Fair on Sunday from 11:00 until 4:00 at Jittery Joes on Atlanta Highway.
  • You can get a head start on the Easter Bunny this weekend. There’s the Helicopter Egg Drop at Hebron Christian Church at 2:00 p.m. and an Egg Hunt and Cookout at Watkinsville First Christian Church at 4:00 p.m.
