Oconee Today -- July 3

Some much-needed rain could be headed our way.

Weather: Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible throughout the day, according to the Weather Channel.  Highs will be in the mid 90s.

Top things to know:

  • There will be no meetings of the Oconee Rotary Club or the Oconee County Board of Commissioners because of the July 4 holiday.  Weekly breakfast Rotary meetings will resume next week.  Commissioners will meet next Tuesday at 7 p.m.
  • The Oconee County Library hosts two sessions of Storytime: one at 10 a.m. and the other at 11 a.m.  Children 5 and under are welcome to attend with their caregivers.
  • The Ashford Manor Concerts On The Lawn series continues with a performance by Sons of Sailors.  Gates open at 5 p.m. Adult tickets are $15, tickets for children under 12 are $5 and children under 6 are admitted for free.
  • It's a bit of a drive, but if you're grieving over the loss of a pet, there is a support group that meets on the first Tuesday of every month from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Deceased Pet Care Funeral Homes in Chamblee. Learn more.
