Oconee Today -- July 23

Band camps, a free yoga class and "Movie on the Lawn" are just a few of the things to know about in and around Oconee County, Ga. today.

 

Weather: The week week starts out with sunny skies and highs in the mid 90s. The Weather Channel predicts only a 10 percent chance of rain.

Top things to know:

  • Marching band camp takes place this week for both Oconee County High School and North Oconee High School. Outside practice will be held in the mornings followed by indoor rehearsals in the afternoons.
  • This is the final week of early voting in advance of the July 31 primary election.  Voting takes place through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Oconee County Board of Elections Office.
  • The Oconee County Parks and Recreation Department is in need of coaches for fall programs. See details.
  • Register to attend a free yoga class with Celia Brooks.  The 6 p.m. class will take place at the Oconee County Library.
  • The community is invited to a screening of "Super 8" at the Oconee County Library.  The free "Movie on the Lawn" begins at 9 p.m.
