Oconee Today -- July 12

Weather: Thunderstorms are likely throughout the day, according to the Weather Channel. Highs will be in the mid 80s.

Top things to know:

  • AARP Outreach Specialists visit the Oconee County Senior Center at 10 a.m. to offer assistance with SNAP and food stamps.
  • If your child missed teh puppet show "And the Dish Ran Away with the Spoon" at the Oconee County Library yesterday, there's another chance to see it at 10:30 a.m. Clarke Central High School.
  • The Oconee County Board of Commissioners has called a special meeting for noon at the courthouse "for the purpose of closing the Series 2012 Water and Sewer Revenue Bond Refinancing."
  • Grab a fishing pole and tackle box and head to Sandy Creek Nature Center for Family Fishing from 6-7:30 p.m. If you don't have supplies, bait, cane poles and tips will be provided. Cost is $7 for ACC-resident family or $10 for non-ACC resident family.
  • The Circle Ensemble Theatre Company returns to Ashford Manor for another performance of "Steel Magnolias." It starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.
