Happy Hanukkah!

 

Weather: Scattered afternoon showers are in the forecast for Tuesday.  The National Weather Service predicts mainly cloudy skies and highs in the low 60s.

Top things to know:

  • The Jewish holiday Hanukkah begins at sundown and is celebrated over an eight-day period. Read more about the holiday on history.com.
  • Today is the final school day before the holiday break for Oconee County Schools. Teachers will come back on Jan. 3 and students on Jan. 4, according to Superintendent John Jackson. All offices will be closed from Dec. 22- 26 and on Jan. 2.
  • The Oconee County Chamber of Commerce holds a ribbon cutting for Jack's Food Mart, located at 42 Greensboro Highway, at 10 a.m.
  • County Attorney Daniel Haygood will make a presentation to the Oconee County Board of Commissioners about enabling legislation at a 7 p.m. meeting. See the complete draft of the agenda, which is attached as a pdf.
