Oconee Today: Aug. 30

Here's what you won't want to miss in Oconee today.

 

Weather:  The Weather Channel is expecting showers early with scattered thunderstorms developing  in the afternoon on Thursday. Chance of rain is 50 percent after 1 p.m.. Temperatures should reach 83 degrees today.

Top Things to Know:

  • Register to attend the Once in a Blue Moon Trail Walk at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia in Athens. The walk takes place on Aug. 31  beginning at 8 p.m. Admission to this event is free and participants should bring a flashlight and join the garden staff on a walk around the garden and a viewing of the Blue Moon. Contact 706-542-6156.
  • Children's programming at the Oconee County Library will resume for the month of September. Check the event calendar next week for library events.
  • The Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation presents the tenth annual "Perspectives: Georgia Pottery Invitational"  Sept. 1 through Sept. 19 in Watkinsville. Admission to the exhibition will be free and open to the public. There will be a opening gala reception and preview sale on Aug. 31 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., admission to the reception is $5.
