Oconee Today -- April 27

Defensive Driver Training, the NOHS Variety Show and the beginning of Athens Twilight Criterium 2012 are a few of the things to know about in and around Oconee today.

 

Weather: The Weather Channel predicts a 30 percent chance of isolated afternoon thundershowers. Highs will again be in the mid 80s and drop into the mid 60s overnight.

Top things to know:

  • Congratulations to the top 5 percent of the 2012 Class of Oconee County High School.  Students will be recognized at a breakfast at the Oconee County Civic Center from 7:30-8:30.
  • Voting for this week's Readers' Choice -- Favorite Place to Buy Flowers-- closes at 9 a.m. and the winner will be announced at noon.  Click here to vote.
  • The Athens Community Council on Aging hosts an AARP Defensive Driver Training at 9 a.m. The price is $12 for members and $14 for non-members. See more.
  • Be entertained at the North Oconee High School Variety show. It takes place in the auditorium at 7 p.m.
  • From 6-8 p.m. at North Oconee High's stadium, it's movie night for Oconee County Middle and Malcom Bridge Middle students. 
  • Athens Twilight Criterium 2012 gets under way in downtown beginning with the Georgia Cycle Sport Twilight Grid Qualifiers at 10 a.m. See the complete schedule of events this weekend.
