Mark Capobianco has been named Oconee County medical first responder of the year, according to Oconee County Fire Rescue.
Capobianco was recognized at a banquet this spring by Region Ten EMS Council Chairman Jim Dove. According to a news release, Capobianco completed the 80-hour medical first responder course offered by Oconee County Volunteer Fire Rescue in 2010.
The department said Capobianco responds to a majority of the emergency calls in Oconee County as a volunteer while maintaining his own business and calls him "an outstanding example of Oconee County Volunteer Fire Rescue and the service it provides to the citizens."
