Oconee Farmers Market to Open Saturday
Get your fill of fresh produce and homemade products from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
If you've been longing for locally grown, fresh veggies or homemade baked goods and jams, here's the moment you've been waiting for.
Opening day of the Oconee Farmers Market is this Saturday, and market manager Jamie Swedberg said she is looking forward to it.
"I'm very excited about how the market is going," she said. "April can be touch-and-go from a farmer's point of view, but Mother Nature has been relatively kind, and we have a wide selection of vegetables, herbs, meat, and dairy for this time of year."
Many longtime vendors are returning, Swedberg said.
"Customers will see familiar faces and will know exactly where to go to get their shopping done," she said.
The Oconee Farmers Market will be open every Saturday through October from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on the back lawn of the Eagle Tavern Museum.
Here is a list of items that will be available on Saturday:
- Fresh vegetables (including lettuce, salad mix, radishes, braising greens, kale, bok choy, and green onions)
- Herbs
- Eggs
- Milk
- Cheese
- Yogurt
- Grassfed beef
- Shiitake mushrooms
- Live plants
- Bulbs
- Bread
- Pies
- Baked goods
- Strawberry jam
Vendors will also be selling dog biscuits, shea butter, soap, and crafts, Swedberg said.
The market will be open rain or shine.
