Oconee County Sheriff's Office Involved in Big Regional Bust

Stolen items were recovered in cooperation with the Northeast Georgia Regional Drug Task Force, the Sheriff's Office says.

Regional law enforcement investigators recovered several stolen items on Thursday that are traceble to fradulent purchases around the area, Oconee County Sheriff Scott Berry announced on his office's Facebook page.

The recovery is part of a multijurisdictional investigation that has resulted in multiple arrests and "put a big dent in a crime ring operating in the area," the Sheriff's Office said.

The seizures were made in Oglethorpe County and involved items bought with fraudulent credit cards at the Oconee County Lowe's, the Athens Banner-Herald reported.

"Please be patient on us getting all of the details out to the public," the Sheriff's Facebook page says. "We have reports from numerous agencies involved to get completed."
