Oconee County Hiring for Deputy Fire Chief

Applicants with a bachelor's degree in public safety with course work emphasis in fire science, public safety, or emergency management are preferred.

Employer: Oconee County Government - Fire Department

Description: Applications are currently being accepted for the position of Deputy Fire Chief to assist with coordinating the planning, activities, and operations of the Oconee County Fire Department and Emergency Management Agency, and to serve as advisor to local governments and the liaison to the State regarding related fire and emergency services and plans.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in public safety with course work emphasis in fire science, public safety, or emergency management
is preferred; supplemented by five (5) years previous experience that includes three years of incident command, supervision, and coordination of response to hazardous materials, fire suppression, emergency medical response, and
emergency management; certification in NPQ FF1, FF2, and Hazardous Materials Operations is preferred; certification as minimum of EMT-I is preferred; certification by the Georgia Emergency Management Agency as a Certified
Emergency Manager is preferred. If not certified, within the first twenty-four (24) months of hire must complete all required training for Certified Emergency Manager as required by the Georgia Emergency Management Agency. Must
possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. Experience with or administrator of disaster management programs such as WebEOC is highly desirable.
