North Carolina Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident Near Oconee

The rider of a 2000 Harley Davidson apparently lost control of his bike while navigating a curve on Epps Bridge Parkway.

 

A motorcycle rider from North Carolina has been identified in a fatal accident that occurred on the Epps Bridge Parkway bridge that crosses over Atlanta Highway in Athens on Aug. 27.

According to a press release from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, Kerry Dean Katsaras, 27, of Lake Road in Mint Hill, NC died at the scene when he apparently lost control of his motorcycle while navigating a curve, causing him to strike the bridge wall.

Officers report that the bike appeared to travel a short distance after striking the wall before the driver was ejected and fell onto Atlanta Highway. Katsaras was riding a 2000 Harley Davidson at the time of the crash.

Police believe Katasaras had been staying in Oconee County and working on a construction project in Athens, according to a story in the Athens Banner Herald,.
