It was a great season for the North Oconee boys' and girls' tennis teams. Both went undefeated in Region 8-AA competition, en route to repeating as region champs.  The Titans also were No. 1 seeds in their state playoff division.  Both squads made it to the Sweet 16 round of the state AA tournament before running into Blessed Trinity on Tuesday where the campaign ended.  The boys fell 3-1 and girls 3-0.

Coach Candy Crenshaw had nothing but praise for her troops.  “It was a long season, but a great season.  We won region, and getting to the Sweet 16 was icing on the cake," said Crenshaw.

The boys ended the season ranked #2 in the state, sporting an 18-3 overall record. The girls finished the season ranked 5th and ended with a 17-4 mark.

“I have a great group of tennis players who play hard and leave it all on the court.  I’m going to miss my seniors, but we’ll field great teams next year,” Crenshaw said.

For the Lady Titans, they will lose senior Alex Barone, a season-long mainstay at No. 1 doubles.  For the boys, the Titans will miss year-long starters Seth Taylor, who played both singles and doubles, and Kerry Nozum.  Senior Zack Smith also was a key contributor on the team.  Taylor was a four-year varsity starter for the Titans, who will be attending Berry College this fall where he will play tennis for the Vikings.  7-4.
