McKillip Concedes 117th State House Race; Quick Wins

State Rep. Doug McKillip told the Athens Banner-Herald he won't seek a recount in the tight race.

Regina Quick's 64-vote margin should be enough to win her a seat in the Georgia House of Representatives, as incumbent Rep. Doug McKillip told the Athens Banner-Herald he won't seek a recount.

The Secretary of State's election results website shows Quick with 3,686 votes across the 117th District, to McKillip's 3,622. Quick dominated the vote in Athens-Clarke County, where the district is centered, while McKillip won the majority of voters in portions of Oconee, Barrow and Jackson.

McKillip told the Banner-Herald he had congratulated Quick by email on Wednesday and would not ask for another vote count, despite the Quick's margin of victory being less than 1 percentage point.
