Local Author Shares Book on Lifetime Network Show

Author Dac Crossley gave an interview on Lifetime Network's "The Balancing Act," on Friday about his self-published historical fiction books.

A local retired ecology professor turned author reveals the thought process behind his recent book and growing up in south Texas on a show that aired earlier this morning on Lifetime Network's “The Balancing Act.”

In an interview, Dac Crossley, talked about how he came to write, Escape from the Alamo, a historical fiction tale about a lone survivor of the Battle of the Alamo. According to historical accounts of the Battle, everyone who fought defending the fort perished. Crossley decided to write a story from the perspective of a young survivor who struggles to grow into a man and put the past behind him.

The book is one of three Crossley self-published in the last 10 years, and all are westerns, set in south Texas, where he grew up.

“The western novel is the story of America,” Crossley said. “It's a story about pulling up stakes, going out west and relying on yourself.”
